Patients expect a quick and reliable diagnosis when visiting a doctor. The doctor is supported in the diagnosis by examination devices such as X-ray machines, ultrasound devices or blood pressure monitors. Control technology from KENDRION helps the X-ray apparatus to move precisely. Valves are used to control air and liquids in other examination devices.

After a diagnosis, the patient expects appropriate therapy that alleviates or even eliminates the patient's suffering. Valves and solenoids from KENDRION reliably perform safety-related functions in dialysis machines. In the case of mobile ventilators, valves support breathing and extend the service life due to the very low power consumption. In the meantime, high-flow valves prevent a patient from bed sores by filling air chambers in special mattresses that continuously change the patient's lying position.

Intelligent Electronics for Examination Devices
X-ray tomography is an imaging technique that displays slices of the body under examination. During the exposure, x-ray tube and image receiver perform coordinated movements in opposite directions, providing exact image details in the respective slice.

Our Solution:

With a KENDRION servo controller all motor axes involved are synchronized and accurately positioned within predefined speed parameters. Communication among the axes as well as with the higher-ranking computer is achieved via CAN bus system.

The servo controller can be used as torque, speed or position controller with multiple synchronization.

In order to afford the personnel maximum operating comfort, the motors support the necessary movements while patient and x-ray tube are positioned. KENDRION pre-assembles and programmes motor controller and drive as a mechatronic unit and delivers it to the customer as one integrated system.

AirBoard® as Vacuum Distributor
In fluidic applications one combines valves, hoses and controlling electronics. Assembling them is tedious.

Our Solution:

So KENDRION developed an integrated system: the AirBoard®.

The AirBoard® comprises a multilayer printed circuit board, the electronic components, the valves and the fittings in one unit. Instead of hoses ducts, integrated in the circuit board connect the fluidic elements. So the customer gets a compact flat subsystem with no further assembly required. It can be used for non-aggressive gases like air, noble gases, or oxygen and liquids like water, alcohol, and detergents. This possibility to combine any SMD electronic components with customized valve groups and sensors means for the user that all functions between the electronic signal input and the fluid outlet are included. The AirBoard® finds applications in office equipment, printing machinery, medical devices and mobile machines where light weight is required.

Rotary Solenoid Assembly with Position Detection in Dialysis Machines
Normal dialysis machines work like an external kidney. Especially for patients with inadequate liver detoxification, one of our customers manufactures a liver dialysis system as the only company in the world to do so.

High demands on functional safety are a matter of course indialysis machines. To prevent infections, these devices runblood and dialysis solution through hoses that are replaced after each dialysis session.

Our Solution:

Squeeze valves provide openand shut-off functions. Thanks to their inherently safe reset function, actuator solenoids are the ideal choice. Rotary solenoids are especially suitable here as their simple functional principle without wear & tear parts ensures a long service life.

As a technology company, KENDRION combines solenoid, pneumatics, and electronics know-how to create comprehensive customer-oriented, mechatronic solutions.

For one customer, KENDRION develops and produces a customer-specific assembly with three pre-mounted rotary solenoids to detect the position and monitor manual hose insertion.

In a four-axis prosthetic knee joint, KENDRION uses a throttle valve to control the extension movement of the leg independently of the flexion movement In this way, a comfortable terminal impact in the direction of extension is guaranteed at different walking speeds.
