In our 2019-2023 target framework, we set ourselves ambitious goals, including a 15% relative reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emission by the end of 2023 by streamlining processes in our production plants and our offices.
We listened to the advice of specialists to focus on increasing energy efficiency. Initiatives include upgrading air compressors, expanding the use of LED technology, and optimising heating systems and solar panels.
Our potential impact goes beyond the internal actions we take as a company.
Our Lighthouse projects support our commitment to conduct business in a responsible and sustainable way. In particular, our products contribute to reducing the environmental impact of vehicles and systems in which our products are used. Our so-called ‘dog clutch’ for mild hybrid trucks offers a huge contribution to CO2 reduction. Electrification and fuel cell solutions are obvious options to drastically reduce CO2 emissions, but mild hybrid is an attractive alternative.
A mild hybrid uses the starter generator instead of the combustion engine. Kendrion’s mild hybrid solution contributes to the reduction of CO2 emission.
We hit the ground running in our first year of the 2019-2023 target framework, reducing our absolute energy consumption by 2.5%, and our absolute CO2 emissions by 8.5%, in 2019.
Our head office moved to an energy-efficient multi-tenant building in Amsterdam, and we promote greener transport options throughout our operations.
We took the first step towards building our global waste management strategy by carrying out a thorough waste analysis across our organisation.
