CODESYS SoftMotionLight is a functionally reduced motion solution for single axis movements. It enables a large number of axes to be controlled with a small controller. The controller and the fieldbus are relieved by shifting the execution of the movement to the axes. Only the status updates and movement commands are sent via the fieldbus. The familiar PLCopen function blocks for motion control are implemented for commanding and monitoring the axes.
For use with CODESYS SoftMotionLight, a drive must be EtherCAT or CAN fieldbus able and must support various CiA 402 operating modes. The CODESYS SML_CompatibilityCheck_DS402.project can be used to check whether a drive is suitable for use with CODESYS SoftMotionLight.
