The Kuhnke FIO Safety OC Counter/Encoder module counts binary pulses and transmits the counter readings, electrically isolated, to the higher-level safety PLC. 2 counters are available. The module can operate as an A-B-Ref or up/down counter. It can be switched between single and multiple evaluation of the encoder signals. In normal operation, the digital inputs and the output are used as digital I/Os with control or status display via the bus. By configuring accordingly, the output can also be controlled depending on a counter. Furthermore, input signals can be used for clearing, initialising or freezing the counter status.
In addition, with the Kuhnke FIO OC module, these data are transmitted via a protected telegram and can thus be used in conjunction with the Kuhnke FIO Safety PLC in the context of safety-relevant applications.
Typical applications of the OC modules with two different measuring methods are:
- Speed monitoring for the realisation of Safe Position (SP) and Safe Speed (SLS).
