Quick entry into CODESYS programming - The starter kits from Kendrion enable efficient automation
“With the CODESYS starter kit, we are specifically targeting manufacturers of small machines who need a scalable automation solution,” emphasizes Nico Heinrich, Product Manager at Kendrion. “The combination of compact design, versatile communication interfaces and the option of simple expansion makes the CODESYS Starterkit PLC with integrated I/Os the ideal choice for companies that want to get into automation quickly and cost-effectively.” The modular small controller FIO Controller 111 includes many hardware functions such as event counters for frequencies up to 100 kHz, PWM or frequency generator outputs (up to 100 kHz) for complex control tasks, PTO axis interfaces (similar to DS402) for precise motion sequences and A/B/ref encoder inputs for precise position determination.
The FIO Controller 111 offers 9 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs. In addition, the controller has 2 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs that can flexibly process signals in the range 0...10 V, 0...20 mA, 4...20 mA or 0...2.5 V with a resolution of 12 bits. The controller therefore covers a wide range of applications. “The plug-n-play functionality of the FIO Controller 111 considerably simplifies the configuration of the I/O channels,” explains Mirko Lepeschka, application engineer at Kendrion. "Thanks to the dynamic configuration, developers can adapt the number of inputs and outputs individually to their application without having to procure additional hardware. This not only saves time during commissioning, but also costs during the development phase."
With compact dimensions of 25 mm x 120 mm x 90 mm, the FIO Controller 111 fits perfectly into any application. It is equipped with a main memory (32 MB) and a flash memory (16 MB). If required, a µSD card with up to 32 MB can be inserted as a memory extension. The FIO Controller 111 has numerous communication interfaces such as LAN, CAN and RS-485, which can be used to implement various protocols - including EtherCAT, CANopen, Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP.
The FIO Controller 111 can be easily expanded - for example with operating panels with touch display from the Vico HMI series for user-friendly visualizations. In addition, FIO EtherCAT I/O modules including the FIO Safety PLC (up to SIL3) and FIO Safety I/O modules can be retrofitted quickly and easily.
