Fast project success with prototype brakes

We set standards in prototype construction for individual drive solutions

Prototyping has a central role in our project business. Tailor-made designs with a high level of vertical integration and comprehensive testing options under real conditions ensure that every integrated brake harmonizes perfectly with the application specification and the geometry of the electric motor. Our longstanding expertise as a brake specialists from Villingen-Schwenningen guarantees fast, flexible and high-quality implementation of the customer-specific drive solution.

Flexibility, punctuality, and quality are the crucial factors when it comes to prototype construction. With a team of four specialists, a large machinery pool, and our own testing laboratory, we are well positioned in this regard. "Prototype construction is the key to the success of our projects," explains Bernd Fürst, Head of Prototyping & Laboratory at KENDRION. "In project business, we need to tailor our brakes individually to the specific requirements of our customers. Our range of services extends from consultation and planning to the design and production of prototypes, as well as various testing procedures. In the end, the customer can use the prototype we manufacture like a serial product."

A particular concern of us is to optimally support and expedite the user's project progress. For this reason, the development and adaptation of prototypes are carried out in close coordination with the customer. "Most often, we produce a brake that is close to series production right from the beginning, which the customer can quickly use for initial testing and trials," describes Bernd Fürst the process. "Due to the high manufacturing depth in prototype construction and a large material inventory, we are able to produce prototypes of both our spring-applied and permanent magnet brakes almost entirely in-house. This way, we can promptly implement the customer's change requests and offer an individually optimized brake solution in the shortest possible time."

Prototype construction and testing laboratory – a perfect combination

Another accelerating factor in the development process is the in-house testing laboratory, where brake prototypes can be tested under real conditions for functions, lifespan, and electromagnetic compatibility, among other aspects. "We offer our customers the opportunity to accompany both the prototype phase and later the production phase with all the necessary tests, ultimately delivering a qualified product to the market," explains Bernd Fürst. "The testing procedure is carried out in close coordination with the customer, relieving them of the testing burden in-house and allowing them to rely on our test results instead."
