For Thermyo by Cooll Sustainable Energy Solutions we contribute our expertise in electronics development. We at Kendrion 3T developed the electronics and PCBs for the innovative heating system, working alongside specialists in engineering, production and installation.
A year ago, the focus was still on development. Today, the first 30 Thermyo systems are being assembled at Cooll Sustainable Energy Solutions in Hengelo. Step by step, the concept is becoming a product ready for real world use.
What is Thermyo?
Thermyo is a thermally driven heat pump designed as a direct replacement for an existing central heating boiler. The system is installed indoors and can work with existing radiators. According to Cooll, Thermyo can reduce gas consumption by up to 40%. The system does not require an outdoor unit or additional electricity consumption.
This makes Thermyo especially relevant for homes where a fully electric heat pump is not practical, affordable or permitted.
Turning a prototype into a repeatable product
Moving from a working prototype to a product that can be manufactured consistently is a major step in its own right. During the latest stage of the project, FP2 was completed. Components were redesigned and sourced, production processes were scaled up, and the supply chain was prepared for series production.
This phase brings design, production and practical use together. A component has to work technically. It also needs to be manufactured consistently and perform reliably for years in a home. That combination makes this phase technically demanding for everyone involved.
Kendrion 3T's role in the project
Kendrion 3T developed the electronics and PCBs for Thermyo. We contribute our expertise to turning an innovative concept into a solution ready for series production. This work is part of a wider collaboration: each partner contributes its own expertise to the development and industrialization of the system.
ESES Energy developed a highly stratified domestic hot water storage tank.
Millux developed the process for reproducible laser welding of the adsorption arrays.
ActiefWerkt! supports the team during assembly of the first series.
Van Dorp Installaties is involved in preparing the installations in practice.
Quooker contributes to the further industrialization of the assembly process.
Tested, certified and ready for the next phase
The first Thermyo systems have now completed their final tests. The product has also been certified by KIWA. The next step is to operate the systems in different practical situations in the first households. Cooll has indicated that more updates will follow as this next phase begins.
Supported by the European Regional Development Fund
This project is made possible in part by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the EFRO Oost programme.
We are proud to contribute to this project and look forward to seeing the first Thermyo systems installed in homes.
