Custom Solenoids Overview
A solenoid consists of a copper coil, a housing, a pole piece, and an armature. The coil is used to generate a controlled field to move the armature. When powered the magnetic field is concentrated into a nearly uniform field. In order to overcome the air gap between pole piece and armature, the armature moves from stroke start position to stroke end position.
At Kendrion, we assist our partners in creating a product that will fit directly into their system, whether that be a coil or a solenoid actuator. The custom coils and solenoids we have designed and manufactured for others may also help future partners as well. Common applications for a solenoid are in the energy market and for sorting applications. In the energy market, solenoids can be found in high voltage power switching applications where high forces and large strokes are essential. Sorting applications include letter and package diverting and sorting found in distribution centers where the main focus is on speed, lifetime and quiet operation. Another example is the Paintball Marker solenoid. We created a better and faster system solution for the paint ball gun and it ended up being cheaper. The best part: the customer grew almost 10X overnight.
That’s the Kendrion way: helping our customers reach solutions that help solve their problem and create future growth opportunities. Our team of experts are on stand-by to help you find the right answers. Check out the examples to see what we have done to help our customers succeed.
