Elevator Technology

Safety, flexibility and dynamics are the core requirements for brakes and clutches in the field of industry and building site elevators. Standard spring-applied brakes no longer suffice for these applications. Increasing demands on the holding function require a higher energy absorption and better corrosion protection. For the brakes a thermallly very resistant friction lining has been developed and the brake design has been optimized under consideration of all technical and economic aspects. In this way a number of different elevator applications worldwide can be served with few brake variants. This is based on industry know-how in combination with a solid product portfolio for application-specific solutions.

Every single day millions of people worldwide use passenger elevators. The safety of the plants and the comfort for the user are certainly the most important requirements of the industry. In oder to ensure these requirements Kendrion has developed a redundant double-disc-brake which is applied in an emergency so that passengers can be transported safely. Brakes from Kendrion Industrial Drive Systems are certified according to the most common safety guidelines and norms worldwide (e.g. EN 81-1) and are manufactured as a redundant system. They offer high reliability and significantly contribute to the safety of transport systems. Furthermore, the brakes are not permanently damaged by emergency stops and need not be replaced even after many emergency brakings. The brakes are equipped with wear monitoring which checks the wear and indicates when the brake needs to be replaced.
