As new electronic features have been added in connected and autonomous vehicles, additional ECUs have been fitted as well. But with as many as 150 ECUs per vehicle, the architecture becomes too complicated to manage.
So increasingly, vehicle manufacturers seek to reduce the number of ECUs in each vehicle. One way to do this is to equip individual components with software and electronics that communicate with the centralised, on-board computer.
Kendrion makes this possible. Our smart actuators combine software, mechanics electronics and an ECU in a single, intelligent solution. They offer built-in diagnostics and reporting, and communicate directly with the LIN/LAN Communications, for easier control and higher accuracy.
