About lightweight - spring-applied brakes
Due to small electric motors, mobile applications, such as battery-powered tools, collaborative robots or stair lifts, require light but powerful electromagnetic brakes. Kendrion (Aerzen) GmbH has recognized this market demand and has developed an innovative concept. In the patented method, the spring-applied brake is embedded in a plastic housing. The new design not only results in a very light brake with improved performance but also minimizes electromagnetic losses. Compared to existing products, the innovative spring-applied brake is up to 10% smaller and up to 65% lighter. Therefore, it is used wherever smaller and lighter brakes are needed. The plastic brakes are available with braking torque of 0.5 to 2.0 Nm.
