History & Brand
In 1971, Karl Heinz Linnig set up an engineering office for drive technology in Friedrichshafen. His first own development brought him a breakthrough: An electromagnetic fan clutch for buses / coaches - innovatively based on the "steel on steel" working principle.
The new development had mayor advantages: High loading capacity and stability of the switchable torque.
The market immediately realized these advantages, and thus Karl Heinz Linnig's innovation became globally known, sparking rapid growth of his Company...
The picture above shows Dr. Ing. Ferry Porsche (left) congratulating our Company founder Karl Heinz Linnig after winning the 1981 European championships. Linnig's passion for racing and his technical pioneering spirit formed a perfect symbiosis. Karl Heinz Linnig was able to directly apply his racecar-driver experience in entrepreneurial ideas - and thus the LINNIG brand was born.
Since 1978, Company headquaters have been in Markdorf near Lake Constance. From here, the Company was subject to continuous development, allowing for construction of a new building facility at Riedheimer Strasse 5 in Markdorf in 1997.
Today, over 150 staff members are employed at the Markdorf location, as well as over 50 employees at the locations in the USA, Mexico, Brazil, China and India.
As a result, the LINNIG brand today globally stands for engineering know-how, for motion and innovation, for reliability and for high standards.
